Going from drug dealing at age 12 to a #1 rank on the Forbes.com Hip-Hop Cash Kings in 2008, 50 Cent has led a very diverse life.  He adopted the name “50 Cent” symbol for “change”.
His albums under the Interscope label, Get Rich or Die Trying and The Massacre, together, sold over twenty-one million copies taking them to multi-platinum success.   In 2003 Interscope allowed 50 Cent to have his own label, G-Unit Records.
Although 50 Cent’s rap career has been tremendously successful his personal life has been filled with violence and tragedy.  His mother was murdered when he was 8 years old. He was shot nine time in 2000, allegedly, by Darryl Baum a bodyguard to Mike Tyson.  He has been in many feuds over the years with other rappers.
50 Cent portrayed himself in the 2003 documentary 50 Cent:  The New Breed and starred in the film version of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ a loosely based, semi-autobiographical film account of his life.
