After small roles in Dreamgirls and Stomp the Yard Black Thomas hit it big in the 2008 film Step Up 2 The Streets.  In 2009 he appeared in the  television series The Fresh Beat Band.  He has recently completed roles in the 2009 horror film Detention and the drama Pastor Brown starring Salli Richardson-Whitfield.
