Christ Rock Bio: Catch a Rising Star, a New York comedy club, is where Rock first began his stand-up comedy routines. In 1990 he became a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Rock’s first comedy album, Born Suspect, was released in 1991, and his role as a crack addict in the film New Jack City brought was highly praised.
Rock left SNL in 1993 an appeared as a special guest star on In Living Color. After the show’s cancellation he wrote and starred in an unsuccessful film called mocumentary CB4. Deciding to devote himself to his stand-up comedy Rock starred in the HBO comedy special Big Ass Jokes, in 1994. In 1996, his second special Bring The Pain gained him notice as one of the best comedians in the comic industry, winning him two Emmy Awards. His talk show, The Chris Rock Show, was aired on HBO, and won him three Emmy Awards and 15 nominations.
Other film and television performances include: Beverly Hills Ninja, Lethal Weapon 4, The Longest Yard and a starring role in Down to Earth. Rock was the executive producer and writer on the 2005 UPN comedy series Everybody Hates Chris. Both critics and fan gave the show high ratings.
