He started his career with guest starring roles on shows like Hill Street Blues (1981) and MacGyver (1985). His first major role was in Boyz n the Hood (1991). Other films that Gooding has been a success in are: Outbreak (1995), A Murder of Crows (1998), Men of Honor (2000), Radio (2003), Endgame (2006) and Harold (2008). He was recently in the television movie Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story (2009).
