Shirtless and BULGING Sam Addo began bodybuilding at the age of 17, taking well known pro bodybuilder Lee Haney as his role model. In 1995, at the age of 24, he left his native Ghana after winning second place in the Mr. Ghana competition.  After coming to the US he competed in the 1997 Pacific Coast Championship, again taking second place.  Also, in 1997, he also participated in the Iron Man Competition placing first.  Addo placed first in the 1998 Gold Classic and in the 1999 Mr. Oregon competiton.
