Usher’s debut album, Usher, was released in 1994. In 1997, Usher released his breakthrough album, My Way, which sold over 6 million copies in the U. S. and over 8 million copies worldwide.  All of the singles on the album were hugely successful, reaching number 1 or 2.  Usher’s fourth album, Confessions, released in 2004, is considered to be his breakthrough album, winning him several awards, among them, four American Music Awards  and two MTV Video Music Awards. Usher has made appearances in many television series and talk shows. In August, 2006 he took on the role of the slick, seductive lawyer, “Billy Flynn” in the Broadway musical Chicago and played in the role until October of that year.  He released his fifth album, Here I Stand, in 2008 and is planning to release a new album in late 2009. Usher founded a non-profit organization called “New Look”.  The organizations goal is to provide “young people with a new look on life through education and real-world experience”.  The charity started a project call “Our Block” a rebuilding and rejuvenation of city blocks in New Orleans.
